I am convinced that most people have a desire to help others who are in need and, when given a chance to help, they respond with great love and strong conviction.
Adopt-A-Block – Poughkeepsie, Inc. is a mechanism that will give people the opportunity to serve Poughkeepsie. The task can seem daunting when you look at the size of Poughkeepsie, but we break it down into smaller sections for our teams so they can make a real difference without being overwhelmed. Our desire is to build a relationship with the residents, and to somehow make their lives a little better. This will mean different things, possibly, to different residents. It could simply mean helping with yard work, or it could mean helping to find a dentist. It could mean providing food at the right time, or to be a friend to talk to about life’s challenges.
